Now open
All Windows Direct has opened a showroom in Brettwood Village to display its various products and styles.
Owner Joel Jaros hopes having a showroom helps customers see what types of windows might look good in their home before being installed. Jaros is able to show them how different colors of siding and paint match up with the windows.
“It allows them to look around before they invite a contractor into their home,” Jaros said. “We specialize in high quality, yet affordable products. I refuse to sell anything I can’t confidently stand behind.”
Jaros is an EPA certified renovator. He also does roofing, siding and gutter protection.
The showroom is at 3134 N. Water St. in the northeast corner of the shopping center where Don’s Paint Co. used to be before moving to a store on Pershing Road. It’s a nice progression for the business and offers warehouse space in the back, Jaros said.

Right on Q, a new Decatur-based barbecue and entertainment service, is making all the right moves.
The business recently debuted at the Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce Business Expo, where its smoked pulled pork won the Taste of Decatur event.
“We won for our pork and our coleslaw,” said Christy Quintenz, whose husband, Doug, runs the business with help from their 19-year-old son, Branson. “And we have killer coleslaw; it’s homemade.”
The entertainment part of the equation is provided by her daughter and son-in-law, Bri and Jared Park, who operate a DJ and karaoke service and are happy to lend their talents if you need music, as well as food for your party catering.
“Kind of a whole event thing; we can do it all,” Christy Quintenz said.
Her husband has cooked for years at church activities and other occasions and made the decision to launch himself into business after being laid off from an auto body paint shop.
Right on Q offers pulled pork, ribs, beef brisket, rib tips and smoked prime rib, with food cooked on site or available for pickup to cater anything from small gatherings to major corporate events. You can try out the food, or just pick up lunch or dinner, by stopping by the Right on Q food stand in the parking lot of the Decatur Food Mart gas station at Ravina Park Road and North Oakland Avenue.
The food stand hours are 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Call 201-0151.

As one longtime video store was preparing to close its doors on Decatur’s east side, a new store was opening in nearby Mount Zion.
Family Video is open in the Wildwood Center in the section that was the former home of the DeVore Academy of Martial Arts.
Regional Manager Justin Bryant said the company has been looking at Mount Zion for possible expansion for some time and that recent discussions with developer Steve Lewis made it clear that the timing was right.
Bryant noted the prime location along Illinois 121 and the lack of another video store in town as primary selling points.
Bryant said Family Video continues to grow at a time other major video store chains are being forced to close locations. He attributed those closings to poor long-term choices made at the corporate level of these rival chains, rather than a downturn in the video market.
While work was being done to renovate the Family Video location, a going out of business sale was taking place at the Video Revue store in the Airport Plaza. That store has since closed.
New owner
Decatur’s two Papa Murphy’s stores have new owners.
“We’re really appreciative of the support the community has given us,” said Maria Marowski, one of the new owners. “We’ve seen a definite change in the business.”
Marowski and her husband, Jeff Rode, along with Kim and Ray Fields, own the Papa Murphy’s stores at 4625 E. Maryland St. and 255 W. Mound Road. They also own the stores in Mattoon, Danville, Pekin and Morton.
The Decatur take-and-bake pizza stores were corporate-owned, before the company decided to sell them to franchisees, Marowski said. She had previously owned Papa Murphy’s stores in California before moving to Decatur.
“We fell in love with the area,” Marowski said. “We just really liked it here. When you live in the community, you can be more hands on.”

Integrity Tae Kwon Do is now getting its kicks at the 4-H Building on the Decatur-Macon County Fairground.
“Size-wise, the building we’re moving to is about as big as our old one, and the training area may even be a little bit larger,” said Larry Porter, who founded Integrity three years ago with wife and co-instructor, Sherri. The business had been located in the Fairview Park Plaza.
Porter said the fair board has been very accommodating with the club’s schedule and he said the club is more than happy to return the favor. When the fairground is in use staging the fair and the 4-H Building is full of 4-H kids, the club will put on public demonstrations and become part of the fair’s attractions.
