In singles, IWU gained a 2-0 lead with Michel's 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 2 over Isabella Griffiths. Van Heuklon followed with a 6-3, 6-0 win against Maria Katalina Gomez Jerez on court three. Sophomore Adia Douglas (Flossmoor, Ill.-Homewood-Flossmoor) clinched the win on court six, 6-1, 6-1, over Parsons. Fellow sophomore Elana Religioso (Mahomet, Ill.-Mahomet-Seymour) defeated Ross 7-5, 6-2 at No. 4 singles, increasing the lead to 5-0. At the top singles spot, Ehrlich extended the IWU lead with a 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 victory over Combs. Bell rounded out the singles slate with a three-hour marathon, coming back from down three match points in the second set to secure the sweep, defeating Madison 5-7, 7-6 (4), 10-8 at No. 5 singles.
The Titans continue their conference slate Saturday, Sept. 19, at Evergreen Racquet Club against North Park University. First serve is slated for 1 p.m.
