Millikin women’s tennis splits season-opening matches

Play opened with the No. 1 doubles pairing of Rachel Combs and Addi Ross falling 6-0. At No. 2, Braxtyn Madison and Sarah Parsons dropped a 6-0 decision, while the No. 3 team of Katie Kammerer and Bella Griffiths lost 6-1.

Singles play saw No. 1 Rachel Combs fall 6-1, 6-2. No. 2 Bella Griffiths went down 6-0, 6-1. The No. 3 matchup saw Braxtyn Madison defeated 6-1, 6-0. Contest No. 4 found Addi Ross losing 6-1, 6-1. At No. 5, Sarah Parsons fell 6-1, 6-1, and things were capped off with a win by forfeit at No. 6.

Millikin 5, Buena Vista 2

In their second match of the day, Rachel Combs and Addi Ross fell in the No. 1 doubles match 6-3. The Big Blue rallied in No. 2 doubles, with Braxtyn Madison and Sarah Parsons teaming up for a 6-4 victory. No. 3 doubles saw Katie Kammerer and Bella Griffiths falling 6-1.

In singles play, Rachel Combs got things started in the No. 1 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Bella Griffiths kept the momentum going in the No. 2 singles, winning 6-4, 6-3. At No. 3, Braxtyn Madison won 6-1, 6-0. Addi Ross went the distance in No. 4 singles, winning 4-6, 6-4, 1-0. Sarah Parsons took home the win in No. 5 singles 2-6, 6-2, 1-0. To close things out, Katie Kammerer lost 6-2, 6-1.

The Big Blue will return to campus for their home opener against Illinois College on September 5.
