Galesburg, IL — Millikin University women's golf opened its 2026-27 season on Saturday, taking part in the Charger Invite. The Big Blue won the event with a 13-stroke advantage in the standings when the cards were turned in.
The Big Blue were paced by veterans Ruby Haegen and Ava Hackman. Haegen shot an 80 (+9) to take third, and Hackman was fourth with an 83 (+12). Lindsay Jackson debuted in the scoring lineup with an 84 (+13) to tie for fifth place. Zoey Beard and Jaryn Haarmann shot an identical 87 (+16) to finish level for eighth. Hailey Homann's 88 (+17) saw her tied for 10th, and Campbell Vrabel scored a 91 (+20) to place 12th. Rounding things out, Madison Bradbury finished in a tie for 15th with a score of 94 (+23).
"It was great to open the season with a win," said Director of Golf Sam Osborne '10. "We count this as an exhibition to allow us to enter other tournaments during the season, but this had all of the big tournament feels that we could ask for. I'm proud of our group for battling in a competitive field on an unfamiliar golf course."
Millikin looks forward to September 5 and 6, when the Big Blue are in action at the Highland Classic.
