BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team heads north to Kalamazoo, Mich. to face Kalamazoo College Saturday, Sept. 5 at 12 p.m. ET.
In their season opener against Simpson College, the Titans drew 1-1 Tuesday, Sept. 1. Senior captain Sophie Lampert (Hudson, Ill. – Normal West) contributed IWU's first goal of the year with an assist by fellow captain junior Ellen Dahlquist (Peoria, Ill. – Peoria Notre Dame) in the first half. With less than nine minutes left in the contest, the Storm equalized to post a 1-1 draw.
Illinois Wesleyan posted 16 shots with seven on target in its trip to Indianola, Iowa. Junior Liza Wiley (Bloomington, Ind. – Home School) totaled six shots in the contest, with Ava Mapes (Golden, Colo. – Lakewood) and Taylor Haun (Metamora, Ill. – Metamora Township) following with two shots apiece.

Two freshmen, Peyton McMahon (Lakewood, Ill. – Crystal Lake Central) and Milania Mirjanic (Vernon Hills, Ill. – Vernon Hills), made their first collegiate starts in the contest, with transfer Zoe Kormah (Pekin, Ill. – Pekin Community) making her first collegiate start as well.
This is the first meeting in more than a decade for both teams, as the Green and White took a 3-1 win over the Hornets back in September 2015, growing IWU's lead in the all-time series over Kalamazoo to 3-1. The Hornets were predicted fourth in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Preseason Coaches' Poll after they finished their 2025 campaign at 10-5-2 (3-3-2 MIAA). Kalamazoo returns two Second Team All-MIAA players, who earned the honors in their rookie season.
